Con el fin de precautelar la seguridad de conductores y peatones durante el feriado por la Independencia de Guayaquil, la Unidad de Control Operativo de Tránsito (UCOT) ha puesto en marcha un plan de contingencia que inicia este jueves en horas de la tarde y culminará el domingo 13 de octubre. Son 156 agentes que estarán desplegados en las vías.
Alex Abad, jefe operativo de la UCOT, explica que estarán activos en la terminal terrestre verificando que las unidades estén en buen estado, que cuenten con todos los títulos habilitantes y realizando pruebas de alcoholemia a los conductores para constatar que no conduzcan en estado de embriaguez.
Además, fortalecerán los controles en las salidas e ingresos a la ciudad, en las parroquias suroccidentales y nororientales como El Cisne, Malacatos y Vilcabamba que son más concurridas en el feriado. Así como también continuarán regulando el tránsito vehicular en las intersecciones semaforizadas donde se registren cortes de energía eléctrica.
En coordinación con las escuelas de conducción emprenderán campañas de educación vial para concienciar a peatones y conductores sobre los deberes y obligaciones que tienen en las vías.
Abad recomienda a los conductores que en este feriado: realicen un chequeo al vehículo antes de salir de viaje, utilicen el cinturón de seguridad, respeten los límites de velocidad y las señales de tránsito para evitar siniestros lamentables.
