El 29 de diciembre, pasadas las 21:00, mientras el Grupo de Operaciones Motorizadas (GOM) del Distrito de Policía Loja, se encontraban realizando patrullajes preventivos, se percataron de la actitud sospechosa de una persona de sexo masculino, a quien se le procedió a realizarle el registro respectivo, encontrándole entre sus pertenencias tres fundas transparentes con una sustancia vegetal verdosa que, tras las pruebas químicas respectivas, dio positivo para marihuana, además se tenía un teléfono celular en su poder.
Al encontrarlo en delito flagrante y tras la colaboración del ciudadano, se pudo registrar la vivienda del mismo, encontrando sobre una mesa una balanza electrónica más tres fundas con la sustancia antes mencionada, haciendo un total de 344 gramos.
El aprehendido que responde a los nombres de José M.C., de 21 años, nacionalidad ecuatoriana, fue llevado a una casa de salud, para la valoración médica respectiva y luego ser trasladado al Centro de Privación de la Libertad de Loja a la espera de la audiencia de juzgamiento.
