En los exteriores de la iglesia de San Sebastián se ubica el quiosco de Tarcila Esperanza Gómez, una mujer de mucha fe que a sus 64 años de edad busca seguir con el legado de su madre, promover la fe, a través de la venta de souvenirs religiosos, actividad que inició su difunta madre en el año de 1996.
Desde muy pequeña le inculcaron el amor y el respeto a Dios. Relata incluso que fue testiga de un suceso milagroso en la iglesia de San Sebastián, evento que fortaleció más su fe.
En el pequeño espacio que lo tomó luego de fallecer su madre, ofrece diferentes artículos religiosos, desde velas, cirios, novenas, estampas, manillas, rosarios, entre otros artículos que los devotos buscan siempre llevar cuando acuden a la iglesia. Todos a precios muy económicos.
Indica que pese a las inclemencias del clima y lo incómodo que puede resultar muchas veces el estrecho lugar, permanece siempre ofreciendo los artículos de lunes a domingo en un horario de 07h00 a 18h00. “Los sábados aprovecho para realizar limpieza en mi hogar y otras actividades, en horas de la tarde visito siempre a mi madre en el cementerio, fui hija única, me convertí en la única compañía de ella”, expresa Tarcila.
A decir de la ex docente lojana y actual propietaria del quiosco de souvenirs, este pequeño espacio tiene un gran significado para ella, pues fue el fruto de esfuerzo de su madre, y actualmente, es también una fuente de ingresos. Además, es una actividad que le permite compartir vivencias con los feligreses que adquieren sus artículos, muchos de ellos turistas, que quedan encantados al visitar Loja.
