Por iniciativa de la asambleísta lojana Johanna Ortiz, el Pleno de la Asamblea Nacional aprobó la resolución que declara como Benemérito a los Cuerpos de Bomberos de la provincia de Loja, en reconocimiento al trabajo realizado por los efectivos de estas instituciones en los diversos incendios forestales que han suscitado en Loja.
La asambleísta Ortiz manifestó que es necesario reconocer la destacada labor, su valentía y esfuerzo en el combate a los incendios forestales. “Han sido más de 1900 eventos adversos los que han afectado a más de 39.000 hectáreas de vegetación, 7 personas heridas, 319 personas afectadas, más de 12.000 animales muertos en mi provincia y hemos visto cómo estos valientes bomberos con los recursos que tienen a la mano han salido a enfrentar estos flagelos” manifestó Ortiz.
Luego de la intervención de la legisladora lojana, el Pleno de la Asamblea Nacional, con 106 votos, aprobó la solicitud de la legisladora lojana y se entregó el reconocimiento a los comandantes de cada cantón.
El comandante del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Saraguro, Pablo González, mencionó que el trabajo es arduo pero el esfuerzo vale la pena cuando ya se ha podido controlar y apagar en su totalidad el fuego en terrenos que resultan de difícil acceso; así también, agradeció a la Primera Función del Estado y a la asambleísta Ortiz por el reconocimiento otorgado.
